| Hello Cyber Cicely! The first fan run Northern Exposure festival was a tremendous success! After attending two expensive NX festivals that benefited a private business, the fans got together last July to organize a festival that was enjoyable for fans but at the same time would benefit Roslyn and the surrounding communities. And we succeeded! The festival raised funds for the new Roslyn community theatre, Roslyn Library, Cle Elum Library, the Roslyn Kiwanis Club, the high school booster club and the music department. The fans worked with Susie Weis of The Roslyn/Cle Elum Chamber of Commerce of to organize this festival. The event was covered by 3 newspapers: Northern Kittitas County Tribune, Ellensburg Daily Record (which will go out to A/P) and Yakima Herald. We'll post the articles as soon as we get them. Meanwhile, I'll be posting the article that was in the Tribune last Thurs in a separate post. There are a lot of people who were responsible for making this happen and I'd like to mention them. The Roslyn Contingent | Susie Weis of the Chamber of Commerce, without whom there wouldn't have been Moose Days. She's a miracle worker who pulled us together through very difficult times to make it happen. She also brought various community groups mentioned above to participate in the event. | | Bobbie of Memory Makers for being such a good friend to us and giving us such great PR! She told just about every tourist that came into the shop about Moose Days and tried to get feedback from the festival attendees (all positive, she said!) | | Mary Andler of Roslyn Museum for introducing us to Susie Weis. |
Cast and Crew | James Dunn (Hayden) and Chuck Greywolf for their friendship and generosity. | | Dan Dusek for incredible tours of filming sites and priceless filming stories. | | Moultrie Patten (Walt) - We missed you! Our prayers are with you and hope you get well soon. | | So-Young Park and the Arts and Entertainment Network for the wonderful Northern Exposure website and helping us out by promoting Moose Days on the A&E website and donating videotapes and hats for the festival (which were used for prizes). |
The Internet Contingent | The Events Planning Committee, who got together several times a week for months to plan all the events and activities for the festival: | Linda | | Matt | | Mike | | Kurt | | And of course Susie W. |
| | The Charity Committee, who also met several time a week for months to form a501(c)(3) tax deductible charity, Friends of Roslyn, A Washington Non-Profit Corporation, to make sure the proceeds from Moose Days go back to town: | Chas | | Lynn | | Thalia | | PatPM | | And myself |
| | Betty and Judy for providing moosefest.com website and graciously picking up the cost. | | Mike for maintaining and updating moosefest.com. | | Barbara and Judy (Syracuse) for organizing the charity auction for the community theatre. | | Benny, Theresa and Eddie for the wonderful T-shirt designs. | | Liz, Kurt & Jerrilynn for laying the ground. They led the group in the early stage of the planning. | | Also thanks to Paul (Upperbasin), Dena, Paul Vento, Jennifer, Kimiye, Kathy, Marie, and countless others for helping out with the planning and lending us moral support. |
We're going to start planning next year's festival very soon and with everyone's support, it will be great! Sandy |
