Pat C.'s Special Message

All Major Expectations Met and Surpassed,
 Minor Glitches Notwithstanding

This year's fan festival exceeded my expectations, although there were a few things that ran amuck for the planners. Moultrie Patton was unable to come, due to physical problems. (Nothing the planners could have anticipated nor done anything about.) It was learned that the trebuchet event, which had been advertised always as tentative -- " We think we have this" did not happen; the hard-to-get-in-touch-with party who does this (with a very small version, it should be understood, of the machine) apparently was told by someone not connected with this year's event that we were not happening, and believed it, taking his business elsewhere for the weekend. Again, out of our control, but no-way an essential part of the weekend. Lastly, a Native American dance group, not promised to us payees, did not attend the parade or the picnic Sunday, although they had given verbal confirmation as recently as the eve of Moosedays (I have no idea what the problem was). The latter group's attendance was to be a surprise to us, and Susie Weis, the organizer, was deeply distressed when they did not show. Again, out of her control, and something we ticket-holders had never even expected! All in all, this year's fan fest was very well run; the important stuff happened, and we were delighted!
